Pediatrics: "Pediatrics is concerned with the health of infants, children and adolescents, their growth and development, and their opportunity to achieve full potential as adults." (Richard E.Behrman in Nelson's Textbook of Pediatrics)

Pediatrics (also spelled paediatrics) is th branch of medicine that deals with the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The upper age limit ranges from age 14 to 21, depending on the country. A medical practitioner who specializes in this area is thus known as a pediatrician (also spelled paediatrician).

His life covered most of the last century. His influence will reach far into the next. He was, and will always be, a man for all children.

Arvid Wallgren's (1889-1973) studies on tuberculosis and his success with the BOG-vaccination gave national and international response. His clinical skill joined with the interest of the social welfare of the children made him an outstanding teacher for mothers, medical staffs, students and pediatricians.

Arnold Lucius Gesell (1880-1961) was an American psychologist and pediatrician whose pioneering research on the process of human development from birth through adolescence made a lasting mark on the scientific investigation of child development.

Ernst Moro studied in Graz, where he received his doctorate in 1899, and then worked as assistant under Theodor Escherich (1857-1911) in the children’s clinic in Vienna until 1902. He was habilitated for paediatrics in Munich in 1906, becoming professor extraordinary in Heidelberg in 1911, ordinarius in 1919.
